Will promises to fight fair with Gareth

Pop Idol finalist William Young has promised a "good clean fight" against rival Gareth Gates.

He said there would be no dirty tricks in his campaign as he set off on his battle bus.

In the run-up to Saturday's final, the last two hopefuls will embark on a hectic round of public appearances.

"I won't be going in for negative campaigning. As a politics graduate I know it doesn't work, so I will just be concentrating on my own campaign and letting Gareth get on with his," he said.

"I have always just been myself and have done my own thing. I think if you go out to try to beat a certain person or performer you lose sight of your own performance and don't do your best.

"I hope that people who have voted for me so far have done so because they have enjoyed my performances, my style of singing and my personality, so I just hope they continue to do so on Saturday.

Will launched his campaign to win with his slogan Where There Is A Will There Is A Way.

"When I started out at the beginning of this I never thought in my wildest dreams I would be seeing my face on a huge bus driving around London with people waving and shouting my name.

"It is very surreal but I am getting used to surreal happenings because I have had so many amazing experiences through Pop Idol so far.

"If someone came up to me and said I had won the lottery I would not be surprised, because so many amazing things are happening to me at the moment."
