McCartney to stage coast-to-coast US tour

Sir Paul McCartney is to undertake a coast-to-coast tour of the United States, his first for almost 10-years, it was announced today.

The former Beatle, who performed at America’s Superbowl on Sunday night, will play at principal cities across the country, starting in California and winding up in New York.

The 14 concert tour, called Drivin’ USA, begins in early April.

Following the US dates, Sir Paul will embark on a European tour the details of which are yet to be announced.

Drivin’ USA will also promote Sir Paul’s latest album, Driving Rain.

The star, who has played more than 600 live concerts during his 40-year career, promised a ‘‘show like nothing he has ever staged before’’.

‘‘I’m very excited to be getting back on the road, playing a with a new band and including some of the songs that I haven’t played live before,’’ he said.

Details of the venues to be played, including one in Canada, are to be announced shortly.
