Police threaten to raid Big Brother house to seize contestant

Police are threatening to raid the Big Brother house in Brazil because one of the contestants is an illegal immigrant.

Officers have told the TV company running the Brazilian version of the gameshow that he has eight days to leave the country.

If the contestant doesn't meet the deadline officers say they will storm the house and deport him.

Antonio Sergio Tavares Campos, a hairdresser, was born in Angola but has a French passport.

Agora Sao Paulo reports that he has a temporary work permit that allows him to work in a specific beauty parlour in Rio de Janeiro.

But he left this job four months ago, without informing the authorities.

TV station Rede Globo say they were unaware of the situation.

A spokesman said they had a pool of 12 possible substitutes lined up to replace any contestants who have to unexpectedly leave the house.
