Rare memorabilia from Star Wars and other movies is being auctioned online by Carrie Fisher and her mother Debbie Reynolds.

The lots include Fisher's autographed Star Wars scrapbook and a Snowspeeder prop used in The Empire Strikes Back.

An original painting of Princess Leia commissioned by George Lucas is expected to fetch around £40,000 in the Sotheby's auction.

The Snowspeeder model is expected to sell for up to £35,000.

Reynolds is the founder of the movie memorabilia museum The Hollywood Motion Picture Collection, thought to be the largest collection of entertainment artefacts in the world.

Proceeds from the auction at the official Sotheby's website, auction.sothebys.com, will go towards the museum's running costs.

The lots up for auction include items collected by Reynolds during her extensive film career, including costumes from movies such as Goodbye Charlie and How The West Was Won. Reynolds is also selling the wedding ring from her marriage to Eddie Fisher, while Fisher is auctioning jewellery she received from her ex-husband Paul Simon.

Other Star Wars memorabilia up for grabs includes Star Wars Academy Party keepsakes owned by Carrie Fisher, and scores of Star Wars posters and photographs autographed by the Princess Leia star.

Also up for auction is a Louis Vuitton suitcase owned by silent movie star Harold Lloyd, and a full-size Miss Piggy caricature doll owned by Debbie Reynolds.

Bids can be made up until February 7.
