Kids TV presenter Cat Deeley is following in the footsteps of Ant and Dec and leaving Saturday morning show SM:tv, ITV said.

Cat, 25, has made the decision to quit weeks after her co-hosts left the programme.

She will leave in the next few months but will continue to present pop show cd:uk, which follows SM:tv.

An ITV spokeswoman said: ‘‘Cat will be finishing SM:tv in the next couple of months but will carry on doing cd:uk.’’

According to reports today, Cat will finish her SM:tv stint in March and continue presenting cd:uk until the current series ends in August, after which she will decide whether to stay on.

She is now considering other projects, including a holiday programme, a primetime entertainment show and a starring role in a major drama, according to reports.

Cat said: ‘‘I have been offered exciting projects, and I was torn between these and leaving the show I love.

‘‘By continuing with cd:uk, I can still be a part of the great team and concentrate on new projects as well.’’

Ant and Dec, who now front Pop Idol, left SM:tv in December and Cat has since joined forces with James Redmond, Tess Daly and Big Brother winner Brian Dowling.
