Will Smith named Star of the Year

Will Smith has been named Male Star of the Year by US exhibition organisers ShoWest.

The star will accept his honour at the exhibition convention's gala awards banquet in Las Vegas on March 7.

It is the fourth time that Smith has been honoured at the annual convention.

He was named Male Star of Tomorrow in 1995, was given the International Box Office Achievement Award in 1997, and was named Actor of the Year in 1999.

Robert Sunshine, chairman of event organiser Sunshine Group Worldwide, said: "Will Smith has consistently delivered performances that are both critically lauded and commercially successful."
