Robert Redford to receive honorary Oscar

Robert Redford is to receive an honorary Oscar.

He will be presented with the award at this year's Oscar ceremony on March 24.

Honorary Oscars are awarded for exceptional distinction in the making of motion pictures or for outstanding service to the Academy.

They are given by the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
