Cats to close after 21 years

Cats is to close after more than 20 years.

The show's producer Cameron Mackintosh has confirmed the final performance will be on May 11.

The show has been in London's West End for 21 years.

Mackintosh said the decision to close the show had not been taken lightly.

"I would say we had started to see the signs over the last couple of years that the show was slowly coming to the end of its life," he said.

"We didn't want it to keep on running until it became a poor, old, unloved moggy."
