Yves Saint Laurent calls press conference amid rumours of retirement

Yves Saint Laurent has called a press conference for Monday amid newspaper reports he'll announce his retirement.

Reports says the 65-year-old will announce the end of his 44-year career as a fashion designer.

Some reports say it's the first news conference of his career.

Staff at his Paris office have refused to comment and say all queries will have to wait until the conference.

French newspapers have reported recently that the designer has been at odds with businessman Francois Pinault, who controls the rights to Saint Laurent's brand name.
