Backstreet Boy arrested as fight breaks out in nightclub

A member of the Backstreet Boys has been arrested for allegedly resisting police after a fight broke out in a nightclub.

Nick Carter, 21, was handcuffed after he refused to obey police instructions to leave a nightclub in Tampa, Florida.

Carter was released after being charged with resisting or opposing a law enforcement officer without violence.

He had been in the Pop City nightclub in Tampa, which is close to where he lives, when police arrived to break up a fight.

As they made arrests and tried to end the fracas, Carter allegedly became involved in an argument with an unnamed woman.

His arrest report states that police told him to leave the nightclub more than 10 times and eventually told him he would be arrested if he did not.

Joe Durkin, of the Tampa Police, said Carter is due to appear in court on March 4.

Carter is the youngest member of the hit boy band and the second to face problems in recent months.

In July, 23-year-old singer AJ McLean booked into a rehabilitation centre to battle drinking problems, forcing the group to postpone their American tour.
