A host of famous mums, dads and grandparents have been practising their fashion designing skills by customising a collection of baby T-shirts, which are to be auctioned for charity.

Personalities who have added their personal touch to the tops include TV presenters Lorraine Kelly and celebrity couple Zoe Ball and Norman Cook.

Phil Collins has doodled his beloved drumkit on one baby T-shirt while Only Fools And Horses actor David Jason has penned his catchphrase, Luvvly Jubbly, on another.

The tops will be sold to raise money for the charity Action Research which has launched its 50th Anniversary Touching Lives Appeal to raise £2.5 million in 2002.

Simon Moore, chief executive of Action Research, said: ‘‘The New Year is always a time for new beginnings and hope for the future. It would be wonderful if people could make a New Year’s resolution to help give babies the best start in life, bidding for their favourite t-shirt.’’

Action Research currently funds more than 160 projects, many of which focus on problems connected with pregnancy and child illnesses.

People can bid for the celebrity designed t-shirts by logging on to the charity’s website at, www.actionresearch.co.uk/auction.
