U2 were the world's biggest earners from touring in 2001.

They made £99m, beating NSync and the Backstreet Boys.

Madonna came fourth thanks to her Drowned World Tour, with the Dave Matthews Band fifth.

Madonna grossed £51m from only 47 concerts, whereas U2 played 113 arena dates.

NSync and the Backstreet Boys took about £62m each, according to Amusement Business.com.

The Backstreet Boys played twice as many gigs as NSync, but in smaller venues.

The year's other biggest concert earners included Billy Joel, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Janet Jackson, Aerosmith and AC/DC.
