Kurt Cobain 'despised' bandmates, his mother claims
Kurt Cobain's mother claims her son "despised" Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl in the last years of his life.
Wendy Fradenburg Cobain O'Connor is backing Courtney Love in her battle for ownership of Nirvana's material.
She says Cobain's former bandmates are "liars and crooks" and "never wrote a Nirvana song in their lives".
Dotmusic.com reports O'Connor says Love has been supporting her financially in recent years.
In a statement, O'Connor said she was "shocked and disgusted" when Novoselic and Grohl launched a legal fight to gain ownership of new and unreleased Nirvana material.
She said: "It's never been in my nature to take advantage of my son's stunning success, but I know that my son would want me to stand up for him and his family in this moment of what I can only describe as total betrayal."
O'Connor also dismissed the claim from Novoselic and Grohl that they should share royalties from the music they recorded with Cobain.
She said they "never wrote a Nirvana song in their lives." She added: "For them to have (claimed) an equal partnership is ridiculous beyond comprehension."
