Talking waxwork Norton can be censored

Chatshow host Graham Norton became the first censored celebrity at Madame Tussaud’s when he unveiled his talking waxwork double today.

At the touch of a button on a special panel, visitors can activate the speaking exhibit and decide how rude they want the award winning television presenter to be.

But to ensure propriety is maintained, the saucy comic will be subject to a strict censorship system.

Guests can choose from G-rated Norton described as cheeky banter suitable for all the family, PG-rated Norton which is innocent innuendo or the full X-rated Norton which the museum categorise as dangerous double entendre.

Diane Moon at Madame Tussaud’s says: ‘‘Graham Norton with his mouth closed is something you never ever see which is why we decided to make him speak. The fact that he’s so deliciously rude helps as well so we decided to have a bit of a giggle with him.’’

The museum have considered and edited the X-rated remarks to ensure they appear innocent to children of a young age.

‘‘I’m not usually this stiff’’ is one of the most risqué while ‘‘I’ve had a full body wax and didn’t feel a thing’’ rates as suitable for all the family.

Norton gave a sitting to his Tussaud’s sculptor Jeni Fairey in July and donated one of his trademark Versace suits for his double to wear.

The talking exhibit will be operational by Christmas.

Madame Tussaud’s are currently working on new waxwork figures of Geri Halliwell, Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Sara Michelle Gellar and new versions of The Queen and Tony Blair.
