Westlife crowned 'kings of pop'

Heart-throbs Westlife have been named Best Band at the annual Smash Hits T4 Poll Winners Party.

They continued the success of last year when they scooped six titles by also collecting the Best Album award for their number one release World Of Our Own.

Over 11,000 screaming fans packed into the London Arena for the event which is one of the loudest and liveliest in the pop calendar.

It was also a good year for Steps who claimed the award for Best Live Act and were also admitted to the Smash Hits Hall of Fame.

But Aussie pop queen Kylie Minogue was snubbed in the awards failing to pick up a single gong despite her massive number one hit Can't Get You Out Of My Head.

Kylie was beaten to the title of Best Female Artist by American superstar Britney Spears.

Boy band Blue staked their claim for pop glory by taking the title of Best Newcomer and sending the crowd wild every time they appeared or their name was mentioned.

Girl trio Atomic Kitten collected the prize for Best Single for their smash hit Whole Again.
