Pop queen Madonna and her husband Guy Ritchie are to spend their first wedding anniversary at the Scottish castle where they tied the knot, it was reported today.
The couple have invited friends to join them at plush Skibo Castle in the Scottish Highlands.
Madonna, 43, married her film director husband on December 22 last year when guests included music legend Sting, his wife Trudi Styler, actress Gwyneth Paltrow and designers Stella McCartney and Donatella Versace.
According to a British tabloid the couple have booked all the rooms at the castle in Dornoch, Sutherland to ensure total privacy for the event which is being held at the castle’s Carnegie Club.
Staff have been warned not to discuss the celebrations while security has been stepped up.
An insider told the newspaper: ‘‘All the staff have been asked to hand in a fresh passport photo to the security chief.
‘‘Electronic codes on all the castle’s external doors will change just before Madonna’s arrival and only the staff working during their stay will be told the new ones.’’
Skibo general manger Andrew McPherson said he could not confirm or deny reports that Madonna and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels director Ritchie have booked the castle for their anniversary celebrations.
However he said that if such a return visit were planned he would certainly ask staff not to talk about it.
Skibo Castle is well known for guarding the privacy of its guests.
The town of Dornoch was besieged by press and fans last year when news leaked out of Madonna’s wedding.
The couple also christened their baby son Rocco at Dornoch Cathedral on the eve of their wedding.
