A question of taste: Aimie Mallon
Le Boom play Townlands Carnival, at Rusheen Farm, Macroom, Co Meath, at 8pm on Sunday, July 23. The three-day festival begins tomorrow.
Cowboys and Indies: The epic history of the record industry.
Room.
Radiohead in the 3arena. Completely inspired, after the gig, by the level of creativity and the production; very spiritual gig.
Palms Trax’s ‘Cloud City’.
It would definitely have to a Roland TR-909 drum machine. Its sound is completely iconic to dance music.
There have been loads of different examples. But one that really stuck with me was the song ‘About You’, by XXYYXX. I got quiet obsessed with this song. A still from the music video has been my cover photo on Facebook for years now.
GoGo Penguin in the Sugar Club. I didn’t really know much of their music going to the gig, but what they do live is amazing! A must-see band.
I don’t watch a lot of TV, but some series that I love are Master of None, Orange is the New Black, and Stranger Things. Binge-watching after a festival is the only cure.
Drumcode Radio all the way! The podcasts are great.
The Chemical Brothers, Porcupine Tree, and Cirez D. I saw the Chemical Brothers last year, for the first time, at Electric Picnic, and it was honestly one of the happiest moments of my life. They were incredible! I have never seen Porcupine Tree or Cirez D, but they are two bucket-list acts for me.
George Fitzgerald, after his gig in the Button Factory. I couldn’t believe it!
Either New York during the disco era or Detroit, early ’90s, the beginning of techno music.
Joy Booth — a friend of the family, who, in my teenage years, put on youth gigs to give young teenagers an opportunity to play music live. She took me under her wing and inspired me to pursue a career in music. And also to note she is an unbelievable musician.
Equal rights for all people!
