Game gifting coming to Xbox One
In an era when many games are released only digitally, this limitation wasn’t popular with fans.
Responding to a petition that received 5,000 votes in favour, Microsoft has announced that the Xbox One store will soon enable the gifting of games.
Players will be able to pick out and pay for a game that is then delivered to another player’s account and console.
This is an important move, since downloading the game oneself and passing it along was impossible unless digital rights management controls were bypassed, which constituted as piracy and required a hacked console.
The feature is expected to become available within two months.
