Forza 7 requires hundred gigabyte install

The Xbox One X version of Forza Motorsport 7 offers 4K resolution textures.

That level of detail requires enormous image files to pull off.

In June it became known that a 100 gigabyte download would be used to deliver the game files, sparking concern that the game will consume players’ entire data allowances and take a considerable amount of time to download.

The developers have responded in part to these concerns, stating they are making efforts to optimize the download experience and the file is, in fact, “a bit smaller” than 100GB.

However, the ultimate installation, combining both on disc and downloaded content will be 100GB.

Only users with the latest consoles and PC’s will be able to take advantage of the high resolution, but it is unclear whether everyone that buys the game will be forced to install them, or if only those with suitable hardware will get the download.

Gamers will find out when the game is released on 3 October this year.
