Facebook hits 2 billion user mark

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg yesterday revealed that the social media platform now has 2 billion users.

In a post on his official account, Zuckerberg said:

‘As of this morning, the Facebook community is now officially 2 billion people! We're making progress connecting the world, and now let's bring the world closer together. It's an honor to be on this journey with you.’

Founded in 2004, Facebook has grown to become one of the most widely used platforms on the Internet and reached the 1 billion user mark five years ago.
