Apple's Planet of the Apps launches

Apple is venturing into the world of reality TV. In a similar fashion to the hugely popular Shark Tank, Planet of the Apps sees contestants pitch ideas to a panel in the hope of making it all the way to a venture capital firm pitch

The judges on the show include entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk, Gwyneth Paltrow, Will.i.am and Jessica Alba. Whilst the show may have more appeal to a 'tech' audience it will likely prove to be popular given the explosion of mobile apps in recent years.

Companies are looking at ways to drive advertising revenue particularly on video and mobile and this may prove a successful initial venture for Apple. It is available to download on iTunes
