Capcom alters Street Fighter 5 stage
Capcom removed and altered one of the DLC stages from Street Fighter 5 yesterday over what the company has called ‘unintentional religious references’, as revealed by Capcom in a press release.
The stage in question, Thailand Temple Hideout, is a remaster of the classic M. Bison temple stage from Street Fighter 2 and featured a background music track with what appears to be Islamic chanting.
Capcom removed the stage from the PlayStation Store and Steam yesterday before changing the stage’s background music to M. Bison’s Street Fighter theme.
Speaking about the incident, Capcom said:
‘The Street Fighter 5 development and operations team, as well as all of us at Capcom, have nothing but the utmost respect for all faiths and religions around the world, and we would like to sincerely apologise to anyone who was offended by this content.’
