Scientists could develop food safety app
A team of scientists from MIT have developed new technology for food safety testing that could one day find itself in a smartphone app, as reported by Food & Wine.
The tech consists of a liquid droplet that binds with any present bacterial proteins when added to food.
If harmful bacteria are present, the bond will become opaque and visible.
The team is assigning QR codes to different bacteria for identification purposes, and envision that the QR codes could be used in conjunction with a smartphone app to recognise different bacteria.
