The long-awaited Apple Pay mobile payment service has finally launched in Ireland, offering iPhone and Apple Watch owners the option of paying for a wide variety of products and services through their device.

Apple Pay launched in Ireland

Apple Pay requires users to register a credit or debit card with Apple’s Wallet service; once this is done users can simply pay for goods by holding their device near to a payment reader as they would with a contactless card.

Apple Pay was first introduced in the US two years ago, but today marks its Irish debut. Participating retailers include Centra, Harvey Norman and An Post among others.
