Sport played a big role in the social activities of workers and an edition of the plant’s newsletter, Ford News, in December, 1968, highlighted this.

It contained reports on the success of its teams that year, including the soccer side’s victory in the Cork Shipping League Cup.

That side also reached the Cork Area Final of the FAI Junior Cup and was runner-up in the Shipping League Shield.
