Facebook adds ads to video content

Facebook has announced a new update for its video content which will see 20 second ads inserted midway into videos.

Facebook has begun updating its Facebook Live and on-demand video format to include 20 seconds long advertisements midway through videos, as revealed by Facebook VP of Publisher Solutions Brian Boland in a blog post.

Whereas other companies like YouTube utilise front-loading ads, Facebook video content will instead now feature 20 second mid-roll ads with the goal of increasing revenue for publishers who are currently finding it difficult to make money from video content shared on Facebook.

Ads cannot be run until a video has been playing for at least 20 seconds, and will be spaced at about two minutes apart.
