Cork's oldest ice skater will put anyone to shame on the rink

Cork on Ice has been a staple of Christmas in the Rebel County for 10 years, and 80-year-old Michael Finnegan has been a regular visitor since the beginning.

Michael took up skating when he was 70 years old and now, a decade later, he's on his second pair of ice-skates and has no plans on giving up his passion anytime soon.

The folks at Cork on Ice are so impressed with Michael they have given him a VIP lifetime free pass to the rink.

“I never believed in the word can’t," says Michael.

"I saw the rink coming to Cork, and I wanted to try it, so I did. 10 years on, I’m part of a community that I love, and am enjoying every minute of it.”
