Auctions in Cork, Waterford, and Dublin over the next three days offer much to interest collectors.

The Railway sale at Cork Auction Rooms at noon tomorrow will feature 320 lots from the collection of Malcolm Whitehead which he formed over 50 years.

Among them are cast iron and enamel signs, a Farranfore signalman’s lamp, and around 80 other railway lamps, signals, uniforms, insignia and clocks.

This is the third sale of vintage lots from a collection which has been a complete sellout so far. There has been new buyers from right around Ireland in attendance.

Railway memorabilia is also a feature of the auction at Keighery’s in Waterford at 10.30 am next Monday.

There will be furniture, paintings, fishing equipment, vintage Waterford Crystal and even a man’s Rolex watch (€600-€1,000).

A diamond, line bracelet (€3,500-€4,500) and a mink coat among the other offerings.

Contemporary furniture will come up at the Design Auction at de Vere’s at the Royal College of Physicians, Kildare St, Dublin next Tuesday at 6 pm.

There are Danish and Italian pieces from the 1950s, 60s, and 70s with work by designers like Finn Juhl, Arne Vodder, Niels Moller, Philippe Starck, Willy Rizzo, C + B Italia and Poltrona Frau.

There will be some lots of modern Irish art with work by Hughie O’Donoghue, Patrick Scott, John Noel Smith, Seán McSweeney, Barrie Cooke, and Felim Egan.
