Latest: Uber say this viral story is NOT a tricksy marketing effort

Update 5pm: Uber have said a taxi driver taken to a baseball game by three lads he picked up in his car is "not associated with the Uber marketing team".

The story sparked some sleuthing on Reddit, with posters suggesting the taxi-man might have been part of a planned effort to send a story viral.

Uber say no, and told us: "(We) can confirm the person in this post is not associated with the Uber marketing team. Hope that helps clear up any additional questions."
