'999? Ambulance please - My feet are hurting after shopping so I can't walk home'

A woman in England rang 999 to ask for an ambulance to take her home after a shopping trip left her with sore feet.

The 32-year-old dialled the emergency number to say she was not able to make the two-mile (3.2km) journey back home after being on her feet all day.

West Midlands Ambulance Service dispatcher Jo Bird tweeted about the incident with the hashtag #notataxiservice".
