Woman blindfolds herself and allows strangers to cut her hair in Times Square

It takes a very brave person to blindfold themselves and hand strangers a razor and a pair of scissors to strangers on New York's Times Square.

Woman blindfolds herself and allows strangers to cut her hair in Times Square

That's exactly what Perth native Jae West did to make a powerful point about external beauty and self-acceptance.

Jae is the co-founder of The Liberators International group that seeks to "involve people in participatory acts of freedom that allow us to see that beyond our differences there is love and humanity."

It's not the first time Jae has done something like this. Last year she blindfolded herself and allowed strangers to draw hearts on her almost naked body on Piccadilly Circus, London.

Jae has suffered from an eating disorder in the past and said at the time: “I’m standing for anyone who has struggled with an eating disorder or self-esteem issue like me… to support self-acceptance draw a heart on my body.”
