VIDEO This new Matt Damon movie looks mental- and its not Jason Bourne!

So Matt Damon gets up to some pretty interesting stuff, from gatecrashing the Hollywood party with his Oscar winning script for Good Will Hunting right the way to delivering a box office smash sci-fi comedy drama in The Martian last year.

He's a talented actor and apparently one of the nicest celebrities you can meet, and seems to have be having quite a charmed existence of late. And he's going to need all of that goodwill for his latest project The Great Wall.

Because it looks. Absolutely. Mental.

What in all heck was that?

Damon walking in a determined fashion, gigantic structures, fireballs and... wingsuit diving?

It's actually the latest film from Hero and House of Flying Daggers director Zhang Yimou and is the biggest Chinese-American collaboration yet made, with a budget of $135 million.

The story is supposed to about the legends surrounding the Great Wall of China (they just call it the Great Wall) and it's going to be truly epic in scale, as well as being shot entirely in English. It's the most expensive film ever to be shot entirely in China and will be opening there in December 2016, where it's going to have to make an awful lot of money. Which it probably will.

The Great Wall is Yimou's first film in English and working with the Hollywood system and will feature an American and Chinese cast including Andy Lau, Willem Dafoe, Lu Han and Mackenzie Foy.

Expect to see it in cinemas elsewhere, including Ireland, in February 2017.
