When the BBC's 'First Night of the Proms' kicked off this week the audience gave a standing ovation as the BBC Symphony Orchestra began their performance at the Royal Albert Hall with La Marseillaise as a tribute to the victims of the Nice terror attack.

In a moving rendition of the French national anthem the audience showed their support and solidarity with the country that suffered such a huge loss on Thursday.

84 people were killed on Bastille Day in Nice when a lorry mounted the pavement and, for two kilometres, ran into large crowds of people celebrating the country's national day.
