How one tweet from a book lover to a bookshop's Twitter account sparked a love story

Once upon a time - 2012, to be exact - a girl fell for the voice behind a corporate Twitter account - and she ended up marrying him.

How one tweet from a book lover to a bookshop's Twitter account sparked a love story

Four years ago, a Pokemon-related tweet posted from the Oxford Street Waterstones Twitter account caught Victoria Carlin’s eye and she declared her love for whoever was running it with a tongue-in-cheek tweet.

And so began a very modern romance.

There was a bit of banter back and forth, before Victoria called into the shop with some doughnuts - and met the man behind the account, Jonathan O’Brien.

The pair went out for a walk on his lunch break and then to a bar that evening,

"It was easily the best first date I’ve ever been on (and hopefully the last first date I’ll ever go on). I brought a book of The Wizard of Oz as a present because Victoria had mentioned to me how much she loves the film," Jonathan told Mashable.

And the rest is now Twitter history as last Friday, Victoria and Jonathan were married in Islington.

A Pokémon even showed up to mark the occasion.

And Victoria announced the happy news - where else? - on Twitter.

Fellow users can’t get enough of the love story sparked by a single tweet.

Makes a break from the usual Twitter mid-slinging, anyway.
