Art, furniture, and collectibles on sale in Galway and Cork

A plentiful supply of items is coming up next week, writes Des O’Sullivan.

Irish art, antique furniture, collectibles, and decorative items are available in plentiful supply at a number of house contents’ auctions in the week ahead.

Aidan Foley’s sale at Galway Auction Rooms, Kilcolgan, at 11am today features 1,000 lots from two Salthill residences and a house in Connemara.

Art at this sale includes a large Arthur Maderson of Tallow Horse Fair, a classical Markey Robinson work with cottages, a figure and the sea, and a 19th century landscape.

Meanwhile, Lynes & Lynes will hold a sale of more than 400 lots in Carrigtwohill today, and will conduct a second sale in Glounthaune next Saturday, July 23.

This is a small house contents auction on the premises at The Highlands, Glounthaune, Co Cork, for the estate of the late Peter Rota.

It comprises antique and decorative furniture, rugs, collectible porcelain and glass, mirrors, clocks and household effects.

The sale will be at noon on July 23, with viewing at the house from 2pm to 7pm next Friday.

All lots will be illustrated from next Tuesday on Lynes & Lynes’ website.
