Varied and interesting lots at Lynes & Lynes July auction
From Georgian bedside chests to large ship models, Nankin blue and white plates, to an antique lead water cistern, dated 1776, the selection of more than 400 lots at Lynes and Lynes in Carrigtwohill on Saturday, July 16, is varied and interesting.
The sale, drawn mainly from executors of various Cork estates, offers antique furniture, art, porcelain and collectibles items.
Among the highlights are a Victorian breakfront bookcase (€3,000-€4,000), a large antique lead water cistern with owner’s initials WR (€1,000-€2,000) and a gilt oil of Venus and Adonis with an old Cork table of R and W Clarke.

Among the more unusual items are five large ship models, each estimated at €500-€800 and all made in Cork — they measure over seven feet long apiece.
They are the warships Bismarck, the USS New Jersey and the Yamato and the ocean liners Lusitania and Titanic.
Collectibles like a fine pair of Georgian garden seats estimated at €1,000-€1,500 to two old dolls (€50-€100), a section of old Nankin blue and white plates (€100-€200) and a Dutch silver oval jardiniere c 1900 (€150-€200), will create interest.
