Preacher already renewed for Season 2

Preacher is a TV show you should definitely be watching and the good news is that it's going to be around for at least another year.

Honestly we never thought we'd see an adaptation of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's Preacher on any type of screen, least of all on a channel with some content restrictions like AMC. And yet the new series spearheaded by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg has turned out to be a bit of a triumph, and an ideal replacement for Game of Thrones.

The 5th episode has only just aired in the US with things starting to heat up for Jessie Custer - a small town preacher with an interesting past who becomes possessed with an unearthly power. It's a much slower opening act than in the original comics, but that's just because Ennis' book was basically insane.

It seems folks are on board with the show so far, and AMC is confident enough that they've just announced a second season. They've even gone so far as to add more content, with 13 episodes instead of the 10 that we're currently milling through.

It's all good news for fans of high quality TV, and will mean we get to spend more time with the impressive cast including Dominic Cooper, Jackie Earle Hayley, Joe Gilgun and the rather wonderful Irish lass Ruth Negga as Tulip. You can also spare a moment to note that most of the main cast is from this side of the pond, including Cooper, Gilgun, Negga, Lucy Griffiths and Graham McTavish. We grow good Americans out this way.

Preacher is showing on Amazon Prime in the UK every Monday.
