Rumours have suggested that Samsung’s upcoming device will be called the Galaxy Note 7 and it’s expected to feature an iris scanner. Serial tipster Evan Blass has added fuel to those fires in a series of tweets that indicate that the Galaxy Note 7 will be the first Samsung device available to consumers to sport an iris scanner.

In the last few days, reports from Korea said that Patron would be supplying iris camera modules to Samsung. It was believed that Patron won the tender to supply Samsung with a quantity of biometric modules for the rumoured Galaxy Note 7.

Blass also tweeted specs of the upcoming device. He says that it will feature a 5.7-inch QHD Super Amoled display, a 12-megapixel rear camera with dual-pixel phase detection autofocus (PDAF) and a 5-megapixel front camera. He also claims that it will be IP68 certified for water and dust resistance.

It’s believed that Samsung could host an event as early as August 2 to announce this new device.
