Tumblr to launch live video this week

Tumblr looks set to become the latest site to offer live video with a launch planned this week.

There's a schedule of events up on livevideo.tumblr.com and it's expected to go live later today. Planned broadcasts include a broadcast from the surface of Mars, the inflation of "a very big thing in a very small room," and a visit from a Harlem Globetrotter.

Tumblr is about to get into quite a competitive market. Between Facebook Live, Twitter's Periscope, and Twitch, video streaming seems to be quite locked up. It will be interesting to see the approach that Tumblr takes.
