FATHERS IN CROKER: If you’re looking to do something a little different with your father this Father’s Day, why not take him on a tour of Croke Park?

The Stadium Tour and GAA Museum were recently awarded a 2016 Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor and to celebrate are offering fathers and grandfathers free entry with a paying adult or child this Sunday.

The tour includes a visit to the players’ dressing rooms before running out pitch side through the players’ tunnel. It also stops off in the VIP section and the media centre on the stadium’s top tier.

The museum brings visitors on a journey through the story of Gaelic games and a highlight for many is the interactive games zone where you can test hurling and football skills.

The GAA museum will open at 10.30am on June 19 and tours of the stadium will take place from 11am; www.crokepark.ie

GOING TO THE ZOO, ZOO: Another family favourite day out, Dublin Zoo, opened its new Orangutan Forest last week.

Inspired by the orangutans’ natural habitat in the tropical rainforests of Borneo, it has 11 trees between 7m and 12m high, that will encourage their natural climbing behaviour. Bornean

orangutans are an endangered species and over the past 30 years, 80% of their natural habitat has been destroyed through deforestation.

To raise awareness, Dublin Zoo has launched a fundraiser and will donate €2.50 from every ticket purchased to the Orangutan Foundation until June 19; www.dublinzoo.ie
