Leaving Cert student gets poet's name tattooed on his arse after betting on his English paper
Adam O’Sullivan is the proud new owner of a tattoo of poet Paul Durcan’s name on his arse, thanks to a bet he made on his English Leaving Certificate paper.

Speaking to 96FM’s Opinion Line Adam told listeners that in preparing for his exam, he decided to take the heart-stoppingly dangerous route of learning just one poet.
In his own words, Adam said he "left himself a bit short."
Of the eight poets that could have turned up on the English paper, the young fella studied just one, Paul Durcan - and "studied him well."
"I was banking on him to come up and if he didn’t, that was 50 marks gone."
As if the poor chap wasn’t under enough pressure, Adam then made a bet with one of his friends to get a tattoo of the poet’s name if he was lucky enough to get him in the exam.
"I was with one of the lads down the library and I told him if Paul Durcan came up I would get Paul Durcan’s name tattooed on my body.
"So I threw it up on Twitter and it spread like wildfire."
The exam came and amid the natural apprehension and nerves of the Leaving Cert, the students had one thing on their minds; Paul Durcan.
"Everyone in the exam room went looking for Paul Durcan on the paper straight away and when they saw his name the whole room started laughing.
"The examiner didn’t know what was going on!"
So the next day, true to his word, Adam headed down to Doberman Tattoo on Mac Curtain St and got the name Paul Durcan tattooed on his backside.

Despite getting this permanent fixture on his behind, Adam revealed he never got around to telling his parents.
His mom and dad found out about their son’s adventurous Leaving Cert souvenir like the rest of us, on social media, but thankfully they saw the funny side.
When asked about the prospect of explaining another man’s name on his arse to… anyone who may end up looking at it late at night, Adam had an unsurprisingly laid back attitude.
"Sure I’ll deal with that when it comes to it."
This is not Adam’s first tattoo -or his first time losing a bet.
A few years ago he got two birds on his hip after losing another bet and it seems Adam has not lost his chancer ways, planning another risky manoeuvre to pass his History exam coming up in a few days.
Although this time, Adam said, he is not going public with his gamble.
"I’m banking on a few things to come up for History -but I’ll keep that to myself."
