Curved iPhone screen pops up in patent

Apple may be set to make sweeping changes to the design of next year's iPhone after a patent application popped up online for an "electronic device with wrap around display."

Curved iPhone screen pops up in patent

The patent was granted yesterday and shows an iPhone with a flexible AMOLED screen and an all-glass body. Previous rumours have tipped Apple to utilise AMOLED displays in the not-too-distant future, and this seems to back up said rumours. There have also been rumours that Apple will embed Touch ID into the screen, which may explain why there's no traditional home button in sight.

Apple previously applied for a similar patent back in 2013, but KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has claimed that the iPhone 8 will come with curved glass panels on the front and back in 2017. This makes it more likely that it might actually happen this time around.
