Facebook Messenger hopes to replace all chat apps
Facebook's app supported SMS years ago, but removed the feature as noone was using it. The company says that it has worked hard on this integration this time around. Facebook Messenger lead David Marcus told TechRadar, "A lot of Android texting apps didn't keep up with the evolution of messaging, so we felt like we truly had to make Messenger the best SMS client for Android."
Users will be able to send voice clips, stickers and locations via text through Facebook Messenger, and it doesn't require the recipient to have Messenger installed. However, to reply with stickers, locations, or voice clips of their own, they will need the app.
Facebook Messenger's latest update is rolling out to Android users in "most countries" from today.
