XCOM 2 expanding reach to consoles in September

XCOM 2 will be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 9.

The Workshop is handling the port of the turn-based strategy title, having partnered with developer Firaxis. Creative Director, Jake Solomon, said that the team is delighted with the reaction to XCOM 2 and is excited about bringing it to consoles.

"The incredible reception of XCOM 2 has been rewarding and humbling for the team, and we've known console fans have been clamoring to play the game too," he said. As avid console players ourselves, we're excited to work with The Workshop to bring XCOM 2 to all of our fans.

Its predecessor also made its way to consoles and did quite well, so fans were hopeful that this day would come.

If you're unaware of XCOM 2, it picks up from an unsuccessful XCOM campaign in which the aliens won and took over earth. It's up to you and a plucky group of resistance fighters to overthrow these overlords.
