Sausage Party TV spot - food gets terrorised

Sausage Party is a new film from the minds behinid This is the End and The Interview. So you already know it's probably going to be funny. What might come as a surprise is that it's also a bit horrifying.

You see in this film, food in the supermarket wants nothing more than to be taken home by people - that's their sole aim in life and all is good and happy as they get led off to paradise. Then the truth comes crashing down as the tasty treats find out exactly what goes on inside our gleaming kitchens...

This new TV spot shows us a little more of what happens in the film, which is definitely not aiming for a family audience.

If you imagine for a moment that food is sentient (and that's a bit weird as some of these foodstuffs were previously alive, and hotdogs probably led many different lives) then the process of being taken home and skinned, boiled, fried, sliced, diced, cracked, ground, basted, blended or just eaten whole and raw is pretty horrifying.

This isn't a red band trailer but there will be plenty of bad language in the the final film, as well as some pretty explicit jokes about hotdogs and buns, you can fill in the blanks yourself.

There's an impressive cast here including Seth Rogen, Bill Hader, Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, James Franco, Paul Rudd, Edward Norton and Salma Hayek. Let's hope its funny.

Sausage Party is out in Ireland in September, 2016.
