Snapchat could soon offer 3D selfies

Snapchat has quietly acquired 3D capture company Seene, which could pave the way for it to offer 3D or augmented reality snaps. Seene allows users to capture 3D models using their phone's camera.

A report from TechCrunch indicates that Snapchat didn't break the bank on the acquisition. Seene's staff are to relocate to Los Angeles, though not everyone is making the move.

Snapchat has experimented with sponsored snaps and lenses and, as you can see in the video below, Seene's technology could make things a little more engaging and enticing.
