LISMORE FESTIVAL ANTIQUES FAIR 

This is a popular annual event organised by Hibernian Antique Fairs. There will be 20 dealers from around the country in attendance and opening hours are from 11 am to 6 pm on both days.

HENRY LANDSCAPE MAKES €100,000

A Connemara landscape by Paul Henry was the top lot at Whyte’s in Dublin on Monday. It made €100,000 at hammer. A second west of Ireland work by Paul Henry sold for €82,000. Tony O’Malley’s Pond Reverie 1 featured on these pages last week sold for €22,000 at hammer and Borderland XXXI by Charles Tyrrell made €4,800.

SALE IN DONERAILE

Auctioneer Aidan Foley will have a sale in Doneraile next Saturday (June 11) at 1 pm. Viewing is from 2 pm to 8 pm next Friday and from 11 am on this day week.

MODERN STARS AT BONHAMS

Bonhams sale of Modern British and Irish Art in London on June 15 includes work by Jack B. Yeats, Paul Henry, Dan O’Neill, William Scott and sculptor FE McWilliam. The Yeats and two Henry’s are all estimated at £30,000-50,000, the O’Neill at £5,000-8,000 and the Scott’s at sums from £12,000 to £30,000.

TRINITY GRADUATE TAKES OVER WALLACE

Dr Xavier Bray whose appointment as the next director of The Wallace Collection in London has just been announced, is a Ph. D graduate of Trinity College in Dublin. Born in 1972 he is currently chief curator at Dulwich Picture Gallery. He was guest curator at the acclaimed Goya; The Portraits exhibition at the National Gallery in London.
