Brie Larson could be Marvel's first leading lady superhero

Those Marvel movies have been going really well for Disney over the last few years, with hit after hit and films that rarely disappoint - especially when it comes to the continuing adventures of Captain America.

Brie Larson could be Marvel's first leading lady superhero

But there's another Captain on the way, and it promises to be one of the most interesting films from the franchise to date. That's because Captain Marvel would finally put a female superhero front and centre for the first time in the Marvel-verse.

Now the film currently isn't set to arrive until 2019, which means that gender imbalance isn't about to be addressed any time soon, despite how much screen time Black Widow gets, but production is gearing up, with screenwriters Nicole Perlman and Meg LeFauve hard at work on a script.
