Jake Gyllenhaal linked to rumoured The Division movie

With the Assassin’s Creed film coming out in the near future, and Splinter Cell in development, Ubisoft is reportedly looking at its portfolio to see what else could be adapted into a film. The answer is apparently The Division.

Variety reports that Ubisoft plans to develop a film based on The Division, with Jake Gyllenhaal attached to star and produce. This wouldn’t be the first time that Gyllenhaal has worked on a Ubisoft adaptation, having previously appeared in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time back in 2010

It’s not all that surprising that The Division would be touted as a potential film; it became the best-selling new video game IP in history in its first week of release. By mid-May it had more than 9.5 million registered users.

It’s early days yet, though, as the report mentions that the project doesn’t have a writer yet. It’s also said that Ubisoft is hoping to get another big-name actor attached to the project before pitching it to studios.
