The Fundamentals of Caring trailer - Paul Rudd's new Netflix film
Rudd plays a dude who has got a little lost who spends 6 weeks training to become a caregiver and is then suddenly looking after a teenager with muscular dystrophy - played by Craig Roberts. Then its time for some lessons to be learned and some feels to be felt. Also songstress Selena Gomez turns up.
It looks like a pretty gentle dramedy with a nice line in mean spirited humour, mostly down to Roberts being generally unpleasant. We're always up for seeing more Rudd, especially when he gets to take centre stage and Gomez is generally watchable.
Red flags - the marvellous Jennifer Ehle has a pretty ropey accent here (yes she's British but this sounds like super-British for some reason) and the film hasn't had much attention since premiering at Sundance in January 2016, where it was promptly snapped up by Netflix. Still the company knows the kind of audience it wants, and this should make for an easy watch after it arrives worldwide on the 24th of June, 2016.
